LifeStyle Weight Loss Medical Director, Jeffrey H. Lowrey, MD holds a bachelors degree in chemistry from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and a doctorate in medicine (MD) from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Little Rock.
Dr. Lowrey holds several board certifications in several medical disciplines. He is board certified in ambulatory medicine, and addiction medicine and is board eligible in preventative medicine and occupational medicine. Since 1990, Dr. Lowrey has held numerous leadership roles at medical centers in and around the Memphis area, including 20 years as director of Harbor House, a treatment center for addictive diseases.
One of the greatest strengths Dr. Jeffrey H. Lowrey as our bariatric physician is that he brings to the field of weight management his twenty years experience in addiction medicine. As our weight loss physician, Dr. Lowrey’s expertise in this discipline together with his training and expertise in other areas of medicine, particularly preventative medicine, give him a unique perspective on weight management therapy. Many of the tools used to treat addictive behaviors are now being used to treat the urge to overeat.
Dr. Lowrey is familiar with helping patients develop the skills needed to identify and change undesirable behaviors, including those that cause obesity. Any medical doctor can give a patient a diet to follow, but only a specially trained physician, like Dr. Lowrey, can help them change the reasons that they overeat or under exercise.
